Orphanage
1.) The floating nun in the library
Loony Park
To kill her, use the spiral stairs to go to the top and pickup the shotgun located there. In versions prior to 1.61 it may be possible to pick up the shotgun without killing the nun, so be sure to completely climb the ladder to the top. ![]() 2.) The fat chef You can't hurt him at first, so proceed straight through the level avoiding his attacks. Kill the spawning kids. You may notice that the chef sucks up the souls of the dead kids. After you killed all of them, he has no source of regeneration anymore and you can easily kill him. 3.) The floating nun at the end To kill the last nun, grab the weapon in the middle of the room and burn her with the flamethrower (secondary mode of the new weapon). Here's another hint: try to stay behind her, she won't throw fireballs at you if she's not facing you.
1.) Tarot card requirement
Pentagon
"Kill no more than 88 enemies" sounds not that hard, but some people have problems with it. Here are two alternatives how to do that.
I also found another shortcut through for this level that allows you to finish it with only 29 kills. 2.) Five stars To get five stars in a level, you have to destroy all objects. In Loony Park, there's one fireworks sack hidden in one of the icecream cones (the one to left at the beginning). ![]() To destroy it, shoot a rocket at the base of the cone. You can also download and install Powermad, it contains a fix that moves the fireworks sack out of the cone. PCF promised to include this fix in their next patch.
To kill this boss, perform the following steps.
Dead City
a) Shoot it You can hurt the spider until it starts getting a blue glow with bolts running around it's body. For the first time this will happen when it's health is down to 1/2, the second time when it's almost at zero. ![]() b) Wait for the glowing ball Once the spider has bolts running around it's body, wait for the glowing ball in it's mouth and shoot it immediately. This will paralyze the spider for some seconds so that it can't move anymore. If you've done everything right, you'll have enough time to perform the third step. ![]() c) Use a cannon There are five cannons around the map. When it is paralyzed, there is always one of them that points directly at the spider. Fire this cannon by walking towards it. Now the spider loses it's blue glow and the bolts, and it is vulnerable for your normal weapons again. d) Repeat Repeat this procedure twice to beat the spider. I made a "done quick" movie of Pentagon where you can see all of these steps performed, too.
1.) The two fat men
Leningrad
There are two fat men (the same like the chef in Orphanage) that seem invulnerable in a yard with a lot of car wrecks. To kill them, you first need to kill all zombies in the same area. Like in Orphanage, you may notice that these fat men soak up the souls of other dead enemies. Once you killed all enemies, they turn vulnerable and you can easily kill them. 2.) Exploding cars After you killed the two fat men and move on into the tunnel, the cars in front of you start to explode. To avoid any damage, just go as far into the tunnel as necessary to trigger the explosion. Then turn around and run/jump back as fast as you can. Hide around the corner at the entry of the tunnel. The small space there is enough room to completely proctect you from being injured. 3.) Boss There are two ways to kill the big spider at the end.
The tarot card requirement for this map is to finish the level with more than 200 health points, which is hard to make the first time you play through. An easy way is to move on through the game without getting this card. Later when you earned the "Health Stealer" card, go back to Leningrad and replay it -- it's much easier using this card.
Colloseum
1.) Pit jumps
Stone Pit
Some people have problems jumping over the three pits in the Colloseum obstacle course. I made some movies that show and explain how to do these movies in detail. 2.) Boss To kill the boss at the end, put out all the fires first (shoot at them). After you extinguished all of them, he turns vulnerable and you can kill him using your weapons.
It's not possible to get five stars in this level, because two objects you have to destroy and also a holy item are placed out of the level bounds. Another holy item on top of the statue at the end sometimes falls out of place so that you can't pick it up anymore. I suggest you go and download Powermad, it has some built-in patches which fix all of these issues. PCF promised to include those fixes in their next patch.
Shadowlands
1.) Boss To kill Alastor, do the following. Around the map, you will find four of these circles. ![]() Place yourself in one of these circles and let Alastor hurt you. You may also hurt yourself, for example by setting the ground on flames using the flamethrower. This will create a stone golem that is capable of paralyzing Alastor. Note that you have to see those glowing particles arising from the circle, else it won't work (use another circle then). Your job now is to distract Alastor away from the golem (else he would destroy it before it can paralyze him). Shoot at him to lure him away from the golem. Once Alastor is paralyzed, he's vulnerable. Depending on the cards you're using you may have to repeat this procedure a few times to kill him. 2.) Tarot card For beating Alastor in less than four minutes you get the "Health Stealer" tarot card. Using this card a certain percentage of the damage you inflict on enemies will be added to your own health. Please note that in Battle out of Hell version 1.5, this percentage has been set to 5%, which often resulted in insane amounts of health (>1000). That's the reason PCF lowered this setting in patch version 1.61+ to 2.5%, and they also capped the maximum amount of health at 250 -- still enough e.g. to make Leningrad much more easy (see above). |
